When I placed my first letterbox I also released a hitchhiker. It
has been picked up and is on the move. Do I count this as a placed
box in my PFX number?

Sure, why not??? You placed the box, right? Would you count a found
HH towards the "F" ?

count it! Some people choose to count hitchhikers in a different number
(HH), but others just count them in their P quotient. I think it's a
personal decision.

duh! It's two in the morning and I just realized I wasn't thinking
straight. Usually the HH is HHs found not placed isn't it? I think it's
time for bed. I've had a long day, but hey, I planted three new boxes and
got a nice little hike out of it! That's worth being tired.

Isn't the whole, glorious, wonderful part of this sport that there are no hard and fast rules (other than leave no trace)? I can plant my boxes where I want (again, leave no trace), put them in whatever I want (Rubbermaid, Tupperware, soap dish, film canister, peanut butter jar) write whatever clues I want (complex or straightforward, riddles or pictures) and I can count whatever I want, however I want. I say, do it in whatever way makes YOU happy! If you want to count your hitchhiker as a plant - do it! If you want to make a new category - do it! Just have fun! I don't believe the LBNA police are going to come and fine you for a violation ;-)MemliliP.S. Happy Mother's Day to one and all!

I count a hitchhiker as an HH in my signature line. Found one last week
(Soaring Seagull, in PA) and released it today in No. Calif. I count that as
1 HH.
